RIP Mike Childs

It is with sadness that the Supporters Club has to announce the passing on Friday 5 November 2021 of long serving Committee Member Mike Childs, aged 84. Mike had been suffering for a number of years from a recurring illness and for the past year was being cared for at Alliston House Care Home in Walthamstow.

Mike was a well loved character and good friend to many at the O’s and played a huge part in the development of the Supporters Club over the forty years that he served on the Committee. He was the instigator of the introduction of real ale into the Club in the 1990s which led to the Club winning numerous awards. Mike’s work for the Club, where he spent so many hours preparing the Club bar and for many years the other bars that the Supporters Club formerly ran, together with his good humour and loyalty will always be remembered and appreciated by his fellow Committee colleagues and the numerous O’s fans who knew Mike over the years.

Mike was in and around the stadium on almost a daily basis, working at the Supporters Club but also lending a helping hand to anyone at the Football Club who needed it. He was a devoted servant to the Supporters Club and to Leyton Orient FC and will be sadly missed.

Mike’s funeral will take place on Monday 29th November at the South Chapel of the City of London Crematorium at 11.45am with the cortege pausing at the Leyton Orient Supporters Club in Oliver Road at 10.55am for friends who wish to show their respect at the Stadium.

RIP Mike.
